Glen Burnie man impaled by rebar post

A Glen Burnie man was impaled while working on his yard Monday, Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials said.

The fire department was called to the 7700 block of Warsaw Avenue at 3:05 p.m. to find the 67-year-old man impaled by a rebar post through his thigh, said Lt. Erik Kornmeyer, department spokesman.

Kornmeyer said the man fell nine feet from a retaining wall onto the post. Fire personnel cut the post at ground level, above where it went through the man’s thigh, Kornmeyer said.

The man was flown to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police with serious and possibly life-threatening injuries.
