A man was stabbed and robbed outside of the Sheraton Hotel in Linthicum on Thursday after he said he was assaulted after hailing an Uber.

Anne Arundel police said officers responded to a report of a stabbing and robbery at the hotel at 1110 Old Elkridge Landing at 12:20 a.m.

A man told officers that he’d ordered an Uber to take him from Baltimore to Linthicum and got into the car with the driver and a female passenger.

When he’d reached the destination, the driver began arguing over the fare, police said.

It is unclear why there was a dispute as Uber fares are prepaid via a mobile application, and a police spokesman did not have further details.

Police said when the man exited the car, the driver and woman began to assault him and he was stabbed with an unknown object. The two also robbed him of his cellphone, police said.

The man ran and was able to call for help. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said the driver is a black male, about 5 feet, 6 inches in height with a thin build. They added he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

The woman was only described as black by police, with no other identifying information given.
