Brooklyn Park fire started by malfunctioning motorcycle, officials say

A malfunctioning motorcycle caused a Brooklyn Park home to catch on fire Tuesday, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue at 12:32 p.m. for a report of a house fire, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department wrote in a release.

Responders found that a motorcycle next to the home had caught fire and the flames had spread “into the interior of the split-level home.”

Firefighters from Anne Arundel, Baltimore County and Baltimore city fought the blaze and were able to contain it in under 20 minutes, the department said.

The department wrote that the fire was accidental and resulted “from a mechanical malfunction of the motorcycle.”

The fire caused $30,000 in damage and displaced three adults, the department said. No one was injured.
