A Glen Burnie man faces 18 weapons and drugs charges after he allegedly threatened a man with a gun and assaulted a woman Monday in Annapolis.
Annapolis police said officers responded to a call of an aggravated assault in the 1900 block of McGuckian Street at 11:45 a.m.
A man told police he was confronted at gunpoint by another man, later identified Alkein Matthews, 28, while in a nearby parking garage who pointed.
Sgt. Amy Miguez, a police spokeswoman, said the confrontation took place while the victim was with a female acquaintance also known by Matthews.
The man jumped out of the second story of the parking garage and called police from a business on West Street, Miguez said. Police said Matthews then assaulted the woman, destroying some of her property in the process.
Officers apprehend Matthews, while he was driving on Forest Drive.
Police said they recovered a loaded handgun, a vial of the hallucinogenic drug PCP and more than $500 cash in his pants pocket.
Through further investigation, Miguez said several parts to an AR-15-style rifle owned by Matthews were seized from the woman’s home.
Matthews was arrested and charged with 18 offenses, including felony assault and drug distribution charges.
He is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond. No attorney is listed as representing Matthews in online court records.
