PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (WPIX)—Suffolk County Police have arrested a teenager who robbed $200 from an elderly man in Patchogue on Tuesday.
According to police, 79-year-old Rosario Parrino was walking on North Ocean Avenue at 4:40 p.m. when he encountered 19-year-old Wesley Thorne.
The teenager made off with $200 and fled the scene on foot.
Several witnesses chased after Thorne, but lost track of him. Other passersby stayed with Parrino until police arrived.
About 15 minutes after the robbery, Police Officer John Falcone located and arrested Thorne.
The teen was charged with fourht-degree grand larceny and is set to be arraigned Tuesday at the First District Court in Central Islip.
