Two young brothers from Mount Sinai are listed in critical condition Wednesday after being rescued from the family pool by their older brothers, according to Suffolk County police.

Emmanuel Paul, 5, and his brother Jeffrey Paul, 2, were reportedly found floating face down in the family's pool on Peach Tree Lane about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the boys were found by their 12-year-old brother and their 11-year-old twin brothers.

Authorities said the 12-year-old performed CPR while one of the 11-year-old brothers ran inside the home to call 911.

Shortly after the call was placed, emergency crews responded to the scene. The young boys were rushed to St. Charles Hospital and then transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center for further treatment.

According to police, the parents, Jules and Leonee Paul, were both late returning home from work.

The couple released a statement Wednesday morning through a hospital spokeswoman, reading: "We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. The boys are in the care of experts at Stony Brook, and we now ask for privacy while we focus all our energy on helping Emmanuel and Jeffrey recover."
