It's been a frustrating start to the school year for many parents whose children attend Public School 17 in Astoria, Queens.

Parents said buses have not been showing up to take their kids to and from school, and that administrators offered kids MetroCards instead.

Some parents said they have been walking them to school or riding public transportation with them.

But education officials said the city is maintaining its usual services.

Education Department Spokesperson Margie Feinberg said bus service is always provided to eligible students. She added that many schools receive new requests for busing on the first day of class.

Officials said the situation at P.S. 17 is under investigation.
