NEW ORLEANS—Kids at Tulane's Ripples Summer Camp donated several boxes of used cell phones to the Hopeline program sponsored by Verizon Wireless.
The program provides the phones for victims of domestic violence.
"The attendees at the summer camp were able to collect over 250 phones to support the Hope Line Initiative. We've been doing this since 2001 and delivered 106,000 phones to victims to domestic violence so they can keep in touch with their loved ones and their supporters," said Verizon's Doug Gillio.
In return, the campers were given tickets to this weekend's performances of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the New Orleans Arena.
