PLAQUEMINES PARISH—More than 10 trucks loaded with boom were spotted leaving Plaquemines Parish one day after National Incident Commander Thad Allen agreed that nothing would move until the Parish had a chance to present a plan back to him by Tuesday.
After Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser had Deputies pull the trucks over, Venice Operations said they knew nothing about the trucks leaving. Houma wouldn't return phone calls. The response we finally received was that it was defective boom en route to Gonzalez, LA.
Also today, someone attempted to take five barges out of the water and Venice Ops knew nothing about that either. One of those barges collected more than 2,500 gallons of oil today. Fred Lamont, from the BP commercial, told President Nungesser he knew nothing about it.
