The Kenner Police Department is presenting investigating a fatality accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a train at Taylor Street and Kenner Avenue. At approximately 7:20 p.m., Kenner Police received numerous 9-1-1 telephone reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. Upon officers arrival they discovered the body of a 58-year old female, who was identified by family members as Cynthia Tuckson, of 2500-block of Kenner Avenue, Kenner. Tuckson was pronounced dead on scene. According to family members Ms. Tuckson, the victim, is hearing impaired (deaf).

According to witnesses', Ms. Tuckson was walking backwards toward the railroad tracks. She was communicating with an individual that was in the Rosemary Park, which is in the 400 block of Taylor Street. As the train was blowing its horn, Tuckson walked into the path and was struck by the eastbound train. The crossing is not equipped with lights and/or crossing arms.
