Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the murder of a 21- year-old local male that occurred shortly before 2 p.m., in the 1600 block of Pleasure Street.

According to investigators, members of the New Orleans Fire Department responded to a vehicle on fire in the 1600 block of Pleasure Street. Upon arrival, members of the New Orleans Fire Department extinguished the fire and observed a victim inside of the vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead. The Orleans Parish Corner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Currently investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this incident, as well as a motive. Homicide Detective Ryan Aucoin is in charge of the investigation.
