KENNER—Liaisons for the Honduran city of La Ceiba met with Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni Monday.
It's a follow up to the Mayor of La Ceiba Carlos Aguilar's visit last summer. Aguilar hopes to revive a decade old Sister Cities agreement. Aguilar wants to boost tourism for Honduras, exchange knowledge and business, and access more crime fighting equipment and vehicles. His liaison, Lucas Barrios thinks Monday's meeting was productive in meeting some of those goals.
"We're looking for radios, bullet proof vests, there's a possibility that we might buy at a very special price squad cars that they are going to be auctioned, so that will definitely be of great impact of our efficiency of our police department in Honduras," Barrios said.
The liaisons and Kenner officials discussed how they both celebrate Carnival. In La Ceiba, they celebrate it in May, in honor of San Ysidro, their patron saint of the crops.
