NEW ORLEANS, La.—Heavy rains early Monday morning have caused numerous traffic headaches, street flooding, RTA routes canceled as well as camps and schools to be closed for the morning.
According to NOLA info updates: "Early morning rains caused street flooding at the following reported areas. Please think safety first and avoid driving through flooded streets. Gen DeGaulle from Holiday to Shirley Tchoupitoulas and Jackson Calliope and Baronne Philip and Chestnut Tchoupitoulas from Louisiana to Napoleon Magazine from Calliope to Tchoupitoulas St. Charles and Amelia 5800 Tullis St on Westbank "
All Regional Transit Authiority (RTA) buses on the Westbank are standing by waiting for the water to recede. Most major streets are flooded and buses are not able to pass. Service was suspended due to the street flooding at 6:45 am and will return to service as soon as streets are passable.
Viewer photos coming in show flooding in various areas of the Westbank including Bellemeade Blvd, Manhattan Blvd near the Expressway and Holmes near the Expressway.
Please note: Delgado Community College is closed until 11am ICS Summer Camp is closed and the Sharper Harper Football and Cheer camp has been rescheduled to Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
