City leaders say the City of New Orleans will be better prepared for our next flood.
Wednesday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the Sewerage and Water Board and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the completion of the $39.6 million Federal Pump Station Repair Program.
Since 2006, the Corps of Engineers restored 23 pump stations to their levels of operation before Hurricane Katrina. Upgrades and repairs were also made to the Carrollton Frequency Changer Building.
The final pump station to be repaired in Orleans Parish was the Elaine Street Pump Station, which was completed in October 2010.
