A New Orleans judge has ordered a new trial for Michael Anderson, who was convicted of gunning down five teens as they sat in an SUV.

Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Lynda Van Davis issued her ruling Monday.

Among the reasons for a new trial was a videotape of a defense witness being questioned, a tape that was only recently turned over to the defense.

A jury ordered the death penalty for 23-year-old Michael Anderson in August 2009 in the deaths of 16-year-old Arsenio Hunter, his 19-year-old brother Markee Hunter, 17-year-old Warren Simeon and two 19-year-olds, Iraum Taylor and Reggie Dantzler.

The shootings on June 17, 2006, brought National Guard troops back to New Orleans to help curb violence in the aftermath of

Hurricane Katrina.
