The NFL says Sean Payton, Joe Vitt and Mickey Loomis will be allowed to attend Sunday's night game against the Chargers at the request of quarterback Drew Brees.
Payton will watch the game from the proverbial catbird seat.
The early implosion of the Saints 2012 season has done nothing but add to Payton's power and leverage when he returns after the Super Bowl.
Saints owner Tom Benson has watched his team flounder.
As it has, he can only wonder what might have been.
What would Sean do?
Benson is the only member of the Saints organization allowed to speak with Payton.
I wonder if Benson has said "Sean, can't wait until you return?".
If he hasn't he sure is thinking it.
