Police say a man with a gun stole a suitcase full of Fair Grounds money from a security guard in broad daylight.

A security guard driving a female employee to the Gentilly race track's kitchen Thursday morning was flagged down by a man asking where "human resource" could be found.

Police say the man then pulled a gun, told the security guard to open the trunk, took a suitcase, and fled.

Fair Grounds spokesman Lenny Vangilder says neither the security guard nor the woman was hurt.

Police and racetrack officials refused to disclose the amount of money stolen. No suspects have been named.
