Glendening, Townsend are 'add-ons' for convention
LANHAM - The Maryland Democratic Party has chosen two new delegates to the national convention in Denver: former Gov. Parris N. Glendening and former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
State party spokesman David Paulson said Glendening and Townsend were chosen yesterday as "add-on" delegates. Add-on delegates are in addition to the state's 27 Democratic superdelegates, who have long been courted by Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in the race for the party's presidential nomination.
Townsend is a Clinton supporter, and Glendening is backing Obama.
