Officials say the powdery white substance sent to 14 Houston schools on Friday is not dangerous.

"Everything showed to be non-hazardous," says HFD District Chief John Douglas. "No radiation, no chemicals, no explosives."

The schools where the suspicious packages were sent include: Bellaire High School, Fonville Middle School, Burbank Middle School, Attucks Middle School, Black Middle School and 9 elementary schools including: Alcott, Browning, Almeda, Anderson, Barrick, Ashford, Blackshear, Bastian and Briarmeadow.

Officials say the envelopes came without letters. They were all typed and addressed to individual schools. While tests are underway to identify the powder, early reports indicated it was cornstarch.

HISD officials say no students came into contact with the powder.

According to HISD, the rest of the district's principals have checked their mail and have not found anything suspicious and moving forward, the Postal Service will screen mail before sending it to area schools.

An investigation is underway.
