Missouri City police said Monday they have a person of interest in connection to the death of Leiah Jackson, a nurse's aide at E.A. Jones Elementary.

Jackson's body was found about one in the morning Sunday morning at her home in the 3300 block of Palm Desert Lane in Missouri City.

"The stabbing makes it personal it makes it a horrific crime," said Capt. John Bailey with the Missouri City Police Department.

Jackson, 27, was stabbed multiple times in the stomach early Sunday morning. She was 8 months pregnant and neither she or her unborn baby boy had a chance to survive.

Capt. John Bailey with Missouri City Police said the mother-to be was able to gather enough strength to crawl next door to her mother's house.

"Before the victim passed away she was able to provide us with some information," Bailey said.

Clues about her murder are starting to surface. Missouri City investigators now have reason to believe her death is connected to a shooting nearby in Houston.

Houston police confirmed a man found fatally shot at this apartment on West Airport is Jackson's fiance, 30-year-old Yancy Daniels. His body was discovered just hours after Jackson was stabbed. HPD investigators were questioning a man in connection to the shooting Monday.

Bailey said the same man in the HPD case may also be connected to the murder of Jackson.

"Once we get that physical evidence I truly believe we will make an arrest on this case," he said.

Counselors were on campus Monday at Jones Elementary to help students and faculty cope with their loss. No charges had been filed as of late Monday.
