A Houston based company operates the oil production platform that caught on fire in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday morning.

Mariner Energy confirms the fire occurred at a platform located on Vermilion Block 380 which is about 100 miles off the coast of Louisiana. Patrick Cassidy, Director of Investor Relationsr, says all 13 crew members have been accounted for. Pictures from the scene indicate the workers were stranded in life jackets in the water before being brought to safety.

Coast Guard officials confirm the fire has been extinguished. Although there have been conflicting reports, officials say there are no signs of oil in the water.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
