With a microphone in hand and one clipped to her lapel, radio personality Suzi Hanks gives live updates to the Dean and Rog Morning Show on her progress and interviews to us, all while trying to get mentally prepared for what's to come. "I'm nervous, but I'm cool, I mean the point of no return, right?" Hanks said.
This isn't her first rodeo, seven years ago Hanks had a breast augmentation live over the airwaves, a year ago it was her eyes and now liposuction.
Renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose has been there since day one. "There's all of these non invasive techniques, but in truth there's nothing that works as well as the surgical liposuction to remove unwanted fat cells," Rose said.
After marking the areas on her hips, thighs, butt, stomach and knees, it was time to head into the operating room.
Dr. Rose estimates he'll remove about 4,300 ML of fat, that's more than two - two liter bottles of coke.
An intimate moment that was broadcast, play-by-play, for all to hear.
Dr. Rose estimates the entire procedure should only take about an hour and a half. Dr. Rose said she'll be back to work on Monday and in a couple of weeks she'll start to notice a drop in pant size.
The good news, the doctor said once they're gone, these fat cells will never come back. "What happens in weight gain these fat cells enlarge in weight loss they shrink, but lipo permanently reduces - removes the number of fat cells," he said.
Of course after her recovery, Dr. Rose said Hanks must maintain a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise to keep the weight off.
