This Thanksgiving will be even more special for dozens families.
More than 150 kids will actually have a family to sit around the dinner table with and give thanks.
This is all a part of National Adoption Awareness month.
National Adoption Day is Saturday, November 20th.
Throughout this week, several counties in our area are celebrating by holding simultaneous adoptions.
Thursday, eight children in Brazoria County were given a new lease on life.
The Brazoria County courthouse was full of eager parents, whose families would soon be expanding.
"Because of the minority community - those are usually the last to be adopted so we wanted to help out in any way we could," said Tammy Foster.
It was double the amount of joy for Tiffany Foster and her husband Jeff Alexander who adopted 5-year old Chris and 6-year old Amari.
"They were looking for love; we were looking for love it just matched - we just knew they were the ones,"
The Herrera's, who already have one daughter, always wanted a larger family, but couldn't do it on their own, that's when they turned to CPS, who statewide has more than 5,800 kids waiting in foster care to be adopted.
After a brief swearing in- little Kinlea Rayne is officially a Herrera!
"It's exciting, now we have one more to share and experience it with," said Daniel Herrera.
Before these new families headed out - they were showered with gifts, many of them donated - including one very special stuffed animal.
One, the Guardians of the Children, who work to prevent child abuse, say is loaded with love.
"If at any given time they're scared or they need a heart or a hug they can hug these little animals and know that we are there with them close to our chest and close to our heart," said one member.
A new chapter, these budding families just can't wait to get started.
"I look forward to typical things - Christmas' and birthdays, not so looking to dating and prom and stuff and boyfriends - by that time, though, I'll have my mind right," said Jeff Alexander.
These families certainly have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Friday, 61 adoptions are scheduled in Harris County.
