Chicago police say they rounded up 11 teens ranging in age from 14 to 17 who targeted three Mag Mile stores and attempted to make off with more than $5,200 in stolen items.
The five girls and six boys were charged as juveniles after they ran into the AX Armani Exchange, 520 N. Michigan Ave.; The North Face, 875 N. Michigan Ave., and Filene's Basement at 830 N. Michigan Aven., police said.
The employees of the stores said the large group of teens ran into the stores and grabbed items from the store shelves and ran off with them without pay, police said.
At the Armani Exchange the teens are believed to have stolen $2,247 worth of merchandise; at The North Face they took $2,719.99 worth of items; and at Filene's Basement they took about $279.99 worth of goods, police said.
They were expected to appear in juvenile court today, police said.
Their names were not being released because they are under age.
