Boy, 15, was shot a block from his home
Chicago police are investigating the slaying of a 15-year-old West Side youth who was fatally shot a block from his home Friday night.
Miguel Pedro was shot about 9:55 p.m. as he stood in the 1600 block of North Keeler Avenue, police Officer Laura Kubiak said. Pedro, who lived in the 1500 block of North Keeler, was pronounced dead at 4:18 a.m. Saturday at Stroger Hospital. He had been shot in the back, authorities said.
Witnesses told police that Pedro had been standing on the street when someone shouted gang slogans at him and then shot him, Kubiak said.
