Hammond man fatally shot in Park Forest
The fatal shooting of a Hammond man in Park Forest is being investigated by the village and suburban task force detectives.
Jonathan Edwards, 24, of the 4300 block of Hickory Avenue in Hammond was shot several times at about 11 p.m. Sunday in a courtyard in the 0-100 block of Hemlock Street in Park Forest, police said. He was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds in his left leg and hip, police said.
Edwards was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he complained of stomach pains, police said. At the hospital, doctors determined a bullet had damaged several internal organs. He was pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m. Monday in the hospital, said the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
