Court upholds conviction of Carroll Co. farmer
Man accused of leaving animal carcasses on property, neglecting others
An intermediate appellate court has upheld the conviction of a Carroll County farmer accused of leaving animal carcasses on his property and neglecting other animals, the Carroll County Times reported.
The Maryland Court of Special Appeals affirmed the ruling of a trial judge.
Attorneys for Marston farmer Carroll Schisler Sr. argued unsuccessfully that a warrant used to collect evidence from the farm was illegal and the evidence should have been suppressed from the trial.
Schisler was convicted in July of aggravated cruelty to animals, animal neglect, two counts of feeding garbage to swine, misdemeanor neglect, adulteration of food and delivery of food without a permit.
