Police seek identity of homicide victim

An autopsy has determined that an unidentified man whose badly burned body was found Sunday morning in a new townhouse community near Middlesex Elementary School was a homicide victim, county police said yesterday.
They declined to release the cause of death or discuss other details of the investigation.
Police released a sketch of the victim and were asking yesterday for the public's help in identifying the man. They described the victim as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds and missing some teeth.
The body was not on fire when found by a man walking his dog in the area of Davison and Langley roads in the Miramar Landing townhouse community, police said. There was no identifying information on or near the body, police said.

Scott Carpenter of the 4000 block of St. Monica Drive could receive a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced June 27.
Prosecutors said an FBI agent searching the Internet for suspected child sex abusers got a response from a user later identified as Carpenter, who provided the agent with 17 images of children engaged in sex acts. Authorities said two of the images were of children previously identified as victims by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Prosecutors said agents searched Carpenter's house in February of last year and recovered hundreds of images of children and pornography from his computer.
The county Department of Recreation and Parks has openings for summer staff at Rocky Point, Miami Beach and Oregon Ridge beaches and the Loch Raven Fishing Center.

The Maryland Department of Aging will hold a public meeting tomorrow to solicit opinions about its state plan for fiscal years 2009-2012.

The $13 million project is planned for a county-owned parcel at Sulphur Spring and Selford roads near the Huntsmoor neighborhood -- the same location rejected by county officials several years ago.
The site is being considered again because county officials couldn't find another suitable site for the nearly 31,000-square-foot combined library and senior center, and 15,000-square-foot community recreation center.
The 7 p.m. community input meeting will be at Arbutus Middle School, 525 Shelbourne Road.
