Family Dollar store worker's boss charged in her slaying
The assistant store manager who was found fatally stabbed inside a Family Dollar in Southwest Baltimore last month was killed by her boss during an apparent robbery of the store she managed, city police said today.
Detectives with the city's Warrant Apprehension Task Force received a tip last week that the suspect -- Alicia M. Collins, 37 -- had fled to South Carolina, a police spokesman said. Authorities contacted investigators with the U.S. Marshal's Office, who tracked Collins and arrested her on Tuesday in Hartsville, S.C.
Collins, whose last address in Baltimore was unknown, has been charged in a warrant with first-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon, robbery, armed robbery, first-degree assault and theft over $500.
Agent Donny Moses, a Baltimore police spokesman, said detectives have begun the process of extraditing Collins. She is being held at the Darlington County Detention Center in South Carolina.

"Based on the evidence, detectives had a good idea that it was an inside job," Moses said, who declined to say how much money was stolen. "A lot of what they found pointed to somebody who knew the store, who knew the inside."
On July 22, employees arriving for work at the store in the 1200 block of W. Pratt St. could not get inside the because it was still locked about 9 a.m. They called another assistant store manager, who unlocked the doors and found Mary Queensbury, 51, dead on the floor.
Police have said a computer hard drive that held surveillance video footage was taken in the robbery. It was not clear today if police had recovered that piece of potential evidence. According to address records, Collins may have lived in Hartsville, S.C., several years ago.
