Power outage delays trains

TRENTON, N.J. - Thousands of evening commuters and rail travelers in the Northeast were delayed yesterday after train service was shut down for more than an hour by a power problem.

NJ Transit and Amtrak say train service was restored about 5:45 p.m. yesterday.

Amtrak says train service from Boston to Philadelphia, including New York City, suffered a power outage after severe thunderstorms passed through the region about 4:30 p.m. The outage also extended west to Harrisburg, Pa. Amtrak says the cause of the outage is under investigation.
