Motorcyclist dies in crash with SUV
A 19-year-old Ellicott City man was killed yesterday in a collision on U.S. 29 near Interstate 70, Howard County police said.
Police said Andrew P. Noel was driving a motorcycle south on U.S. 29 about 3:04 p.m. when a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert N. Mecklenburg made a left turn on northbound U.S. 29 in front of Noel's motorcycle and the vehicles collided. Mecklenburg was trying to get on a ramp to westbound I-70, police said.
Noel, of Stonehouse Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mecklenburg, 79, of Upwoods Lane in Columbia was taken to Howard County General Hospital with minor injuries.
