Crofton women die in accident
Two Crofton women died in a single-car accident early Sunday in Gambrills after the car they were in spun out of control and hit several trees, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday.
The crash was reported about 1:15 a.m. on Davidsonville Road, north of Bottner Road, police said.
Rebecca Lynn Moore, 23, was driving her 2007 Hyundai Accent, with Keira Gwenise Mosaid, 19, in the passenger seat. They were traveling south on Davidsonville Road when the car drifted to the right and struck a curb, police said.
Moore overcorrected and drove off the left side of the road, police said. The car turned on its left side and struck several trees, police said.
Moore and Mosaid "died instantly on impact," county police said in a statement. Moore lived in the 1700 block of Copley Court. Mosaid lived in the 1600 block of Fendall Court, police said.
Police said alcohol or drugs, and excessive speed were thought to be factors in the crash.
