The Jayhawks say they're ready for their spotlight on the stage of the Superdome. Three players and coach Bill Self answered questions from the media Friday.
Thursday night, the team was fitted for their rings. Elijah Johnson says he didn't know you get a ring for going to the Final Four. He says after being fitted, it started to sink in at how far they've come.
Tyshawn Taylor says while he thinks they earned this trip to New Orleans, they're making sure to enjoy the moment. He says the team only has a few days left together so they want to have fun and take advantage of this opportunity. He says they're lucky to have a chance to experience the Final Four together.
Although coach Bill Self joked he's making sure the team doesn't have fun. He says he wants them to think they're having fun, but he's actually controlling everything the players do so they can rest.
When asked about what it's like to play on the Superdome court, many of the players compared it to a stage.
Thomas Robinson says it's the biggest court he's played on in his career. He says he's scared to see what it looks like filled with people. Elijah Johnson joked that when he saw the court he thought he was going to throw up. He says it seems longer than normal, but so far he likes it. Taylor says it seems bigger and the lights seem brighter, but he's excited to play on such a big stage.
