ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Alaska State Troopers say a Fairbanks woman died near Mount Prindle Monday when her all-terrain vehicle rolled over onto her as she was riding along a rutted trail. Mi Suk Emerson was 51.
Fairbanks troopers received a report at about 2:30 p.m. Monday of one person seriously injured in an ATV collision near the mountain, which is off the Steese Highway about 50 miles outside Fairbanks.
An Alaska Wildlife Trooper responding via helicopter found Emerson dead at the scene, where hunters -- including one with extensive medic training -- had tried to apply life-saving measures. Subsequent attempts to revive Emerson were unsuccessful.
According to troopers, alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Emerson was not wearing a helmet, and her body has been transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
