SAN DIEGO -- If you're looking to make some extra money during the holidays, some large retailers are hiring right now.
JC Penney is hiring 37,000 people across country this holiday season compared to 30,000 last year.
Kohl's is looking for 40,000 employees which is an increase of 5 percent more than 2010. A San Diego store manager told Fox 5 the company is looking for part time workers for nights and weekends throughout the New Year.
"People are going to be sitting and doing nothing, so I think that it's good that there are plenty of jobs at stores like Kohl's and Walmart because students like us can do jobs like that," said DJ Dela Cruz, who lives near San Diego State University.
Target is recruiting holiday help as well. The human resources department in Encinitas said it's looking to fill about 100 part time holiday jobs for cashiers, over night stockers, and sales floor team members.
Hiring for holiday jobs typically begins in October. Most positions are filled in November and employment lasts through the New Year.
You can walk in to any of the retail stores for an application, or visit their company websites for more information.
