SAN DIEGO -- A 35-year-old woman was struck by a trolley while chasing after her Chihuahua Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred on the southbound trolley tracks on West Ash Street and Pacific Highway at 6:23 p.m., San Diego Police Officer David Stafford said.

The woman was taken to a trauma center and suffered facial fractures and a broken wrist. The injuries were non-life threatening.

The dog was not injured, Stafford said.
