A semi-truck flipped over on southbound Interstate 5 in Carlsbad Friday, closing two lanes of traffic and backing up the morning commute, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big-rig overturned at about 2:45 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 at Tamarack Avenue, according to the CHP.

Two lanes of the freeway were shut down and a Sig Alert was issued by the CHP at about 3 a.m.

According to the CHP's website, the semi-truck was carrying a load of metal engines.
