SAN DIEGO -- Plans for the viewing, memorial service and burial of former Charger Junior Seau were released Wednesday, and they will be closed to the public.
An announcement from The Rock Church erroneously indicated that all events would be open to the public, but a spokeswoman for the church quickly retracted the announcement after members of Seau's family said that the only event open to the public would be the Celebration of Life previously announced for Friday evening at Qualcomm Stadium.
The private events include:
- Viewing at Calvary Chapel in Oceanside on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Memorial service at Calvary Chapel in Oceanside on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Burial at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday's public memorial service begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include special guests who will share stories about the impact the Oceanside native had on them and others, according to the Chargers.
