Lance Louis, ex-Aztec offensive lineman, had his attorney plea not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge from last November. The next court date is scheduled in December.
Louis's accuser, Nick Sandford, said he suffered from a concussion, broken eardrum, and fractured cheekbone after Louis struck him in the locker room. Sandford had poked Louis with a stick earlier, which caused Louis to retaliate. The incident occurred Nov. 5 but wasn't reported to campus police Nov. 20.
The maximum charges could be one-year jail term and fines of up to $10,000 for a conviction.
Sandford is currently plays at SDSU as safety. Louis, 24, currently plays with the NFL's Chicago Bears.
