Four teenagers were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing an El Cajon elementary school today, causing several thousand dollars' damage to a classroom, police said.

Officers responding to an alarm about 4 a.m. at Meridian Elementary School, 651 S. Third Street, found two girls and two boys leaving one of the classrooms, according to El Cajon police Lt. Jim Redman.

The youths, two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds, allegedly broke into the classroom, threw glue and glitter on the floors, walls and the teacher's desk and wrote obscenities on the floor, Redman said.

The youths were found with a video projector and a DVD player, the lieutenant said.

Damage to the classroom is estimated at more than $3,000, he said.

The four juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall, Redman said.
