With Friday Furlough's back, there are ways to get around the DMV closures and avoid the long lines when the department is open for business.

Fast Track Registration opened two weeks ago. It's a private company that works with California and allows people to get registration renewals, change license plates, and transfer car owners in literally minutes.

El Cajon Resident Mojdeh Broumand says she would rather use this service than step foot in the DMV.

"It's convenient for me, I don't need to wait in line and it only takes me ten to fifteen minutes," said Broumand.

Owner Laila Sarangi says her new business came in the nick of time as Governor Schwarzenegger cut back hours at California DMV offices

"The response is very good, people say, 'oh I love it, I don't want to go to the DMV, I don't mind paying $24.00 because it's worth it,'" Sarangi said.

This isn't the only alternative way to take care of business. Mckee's Auto Registration in Lemon Grove, Top Dollar in El Cajon and Stop 'N Go Registration also offer similar services. And the American Automobile Association (AAA) offers many DMV services free to members.

If you decide to use a private alternative to the DMV, make sure it's a legitimate service by checking with the Better Business Bureau.
