The Texas Department of State Health Services began initial tuberculosis screenings Tuesday in the Red Oak Independent School District. Students and staff, who have already been identified, underwent the screening process.

Red Oak I.S.D. says a staff member at Wooden Elementary School recently had a questionable TB screening. District officials say there is no confirmed active TB case; however, as a precautionary measure, it is working under the direction of the TDSHS to screen students and staff who have been in prolonged contact with the individual.

According to Red Oak I.S.D., a local health care provider will offer testing for free to all Wooden Elementary students and staff who were not selected in the initial screening by the TDSHS.

The district held two informational meetings last week.
