As a bride-to-be, Patty Jimenez is up on all the latest fashions and styles. That includes a hot Hollywood hair trend she's adopted as her own.
"I just think it looks sexy. I don't know exactly what is sexy about it I just think it looks sexy" Jimenez said.
The Dallas woman has high-profile company. What's called the Ombre is now on actresses and models everywhere. It's been made popular it seems by Erin Wasson, Alexa Chung and Drew Barrymore.
The Ombre basically looks like you're due for a color, but in a good way. The roots are dark and long and the highlights start at about your cheekbone.
"It's really popular in LA and it's gaining popularity rapidly the country" Lara Baracaia said.
Baracaia is a manager at Salon Lucien in Dallas. She says it's popular for many reasons. The style is low-maintenance, soft, pretty and romantic. That's something current fashion in general seems to be embracing.
"I think it's effortless and sexy because the whole bohemian look is in. It's just tousled, wind blown and that's sexy because it's not so done. It's just carefree."
Stylists at Salon Lucien in Dallas say the Ombre is moving west and they're starting to see big interest in North Texas.
"I just think it has a lot of sex appeal, so anything that has a lot of sex appeal is going to get girls attention I think" Baracaia said.
Celebrities like Jessica Biehl, Rachel Bilson, and Lauren Conrad have made sure of that. Guys, too, might learn to love it. Less time in the salon means more time with them.
"It just makes you feel better. Automatically when you wake up in the morning, you fix yourself up. If you have a good hair style, if you have good color, you don't have to do too much else."
Thats reason enough to hope this style isn't a fleeting one.
