The Seattle Seahawks cut 12 players Sunday, reducing their roster size to 77in advance of Monday's deadline, by which the roster must be down to 75 players.

The most notable fo those players cut was wide receiver Terrell Owens, the 38-year-old who was competing to replace departed Mike Williams. Owens came into camp with a blaze -- running an impressive 40 yard dash time, but had problems holding onto passes in preseason games.

Nearly always controversial, Owens was grateful for the chance to become a Seahawk, tweeting after being cut:

"I'm no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver."

Owens' departure could bode well for another veteran wide receiver signed in training camp, Braylon Edwards. Edwards has been impressive in the preseason.
