Five days before Flag Day is officially celebrated, the annual celebration was held Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Those at the ceremony honored the stars and stripes and those who served under it. They took time out to memorialize fallen Washington State Patrol trooper Tony Radulescu.
Radulescu was killed in the line of duty in February. His family members and former fiancee were in attendance.
“He always had a friendly smile for everyone he saw,” said his former fiancee Gina Miller. “It didn't matter if it was a violator he was pulling over, he treated you with dignity and respect. And unfortunately that night, he was not treated the same.”
Radulescu had worked as a WSP trooper since 1995, after serving in the Army and Army Reserve.
