SEATTLE—Former TV news anchor Susan Hutchison appears headed for the November general election after finishing first in the primary.
With about half of the vote counted, Hutchison had 37 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary, ahead of County Councilman Dow Constantine with 22 percent, state Sen. Fred Jarrett with 12 percent, and state Rep. Ross Hunter with 11 percent.
The top two finishers in the primary advance to the general election.
County executive is now a non-partisan race. Hutchison had dodged party labels, but she is a prominent supporter of Republican candidates.
Constantine, Hunter and Jarett are all Democrats.
