It's usually not very much fun going a funeral home.

But Jon Gordon, the general manager of Schaefer-Schipman Funeral Home in Marysville, is trying to change that.

He threw a block party today and 200 people showed up.

It featured facepainting and a funhouse for kids, tours of the funeral home and kittens looking for new companions.

Gordon says he held the block party so that people could visit a funeral home when they weren't sad.

"I want them to see that the funeral home is an important part of the community."
