LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles will be the focus of tributes to Michael Jackson today, but millions of fans around the world will join together to watch the star-studded event on TV, creating what could be the biggest memorial ever held.
There's an all-star lineup participating in the public memorial service at L.A.'s Staples Center, including Stevie Wonder, Usher and Queen Latifah.
The event will be broadcast live in Australia and Asia, even where it's the middle of the night. Fans in Melbourne will watch the broadcast at 3 AM.
Before the public memorial, Jackson's family is expected to hold a private funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.
Though a somber occasion, fans who won the ticket lottery celebrated as they picked up their passes at Dodger Stadium, yesterday. One fan, recalling her mother's love for Elvis, declared, "This is my Elvis."
Los Angeles police are urging fans without tickets to stay away and watch it on television, in an effort to avoid a mob scene.
Q13 FOX News This Morning will expand one more hour of news. You can catch all the details between 5am-10am Tuesday morning on channel 13. Following local coverage, FOX is expected to carry the memorial live.
