While no injuries were recorded, the vehicle did suffer major rollover damage.
“I was on my way to IVC (Imperial Valley College),” said Calexico resident and driver of the vehicle Guadalupe Solis in Spanish.
She was on the right lane driving behind a school bus, Solis said, and as she tried to pass the bus she got too close to the median and lost control of the car.
“That’s when the car started to spin and I don’t know what happened after that,” she said.
She doesn’t think the car can be repaired, Solis, the sole occupant of the car said.
Solis had borrowed the car from her sister-in-law so she was unsure if the car had insurance.
Neither the school bus nor any other car was involved or damaged in the crash, California Highway Patrol officer Jose Serrano said.
El Centro - A resident was approached by a male with a gun while leaving an apartment complex in the 1000 block of El Centro Avenue in the early hours of Friday.
The suspect, described as a heavy built man in his 20s, approximately 5 feet and 6 inches tall, approached the resident and asked if his name was Raymond, according to El Centro Police logs.
The resident said he wasn’t and the subject left the location.
It is unknown if the subject left on foot or in a vehicle, the logs stated.
El Centro - A television worth $2,200 and an iPod worth $100 were stolen from a house on Hamilton Avenue on Thursday night.
The point of entry to the residence was a kitchen window which had been broken with an unknown object at around 9 p.m., according to El Centro Police logs.
There is no information on the suspect or suspects, according to logs.
