The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Country Current as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series on Saturday, July 28, at 4:30 p.m. at HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
The group is a seven-member country-bluegrass ensemble originally formed in 1973 under the leadership of banjo player Bill Emerson. The group is now under the direction of banjoist Senior Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson.
In support of Navy recruiting, the band tours the United States each year and has performed alongside a host of country artists, including Brooks and Dunn, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Alison Krauss, Boots Randolph and the Statler Brothers.
Co-sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, this concert is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase. No outside food is permitted on the amphitheater grounds.
